Books & Links

Once I took some basic classes, there were a lot of gaps I had to fill in--especially when it came to wire wrapping because there are so many things you can do with wire.

Three books that I especially like are:

Silver Wire Jewelry by Irene From Peterson. This has good clear illustrations, and lots of examples. This shows a lot of work with rings.

Moods in Wire by Ellsworth "Ed" Sinclair has lots of different wirewrapping techniques. There are plenty of illustrations and a few photos. Although well illustrated, I liked the ones in Peterson's book slightly better, but there are many different techniques that you will not see elsewhere.

Jewelry Making by Stephen O'Keefe. This book goes a step further than the others, taking jewelry making more deeply into the metal shop. Here, O'Keefe uses a variety of punches, a burnisher, vises and other tools to add more advanced techniques. I'm not quite ready for this book yet, but I pick it up every now and then and skim through it, because I know I will eventually get there.
