Jewelry Making Resources Around Dallas/Ft. Worth
Below are some store recommendations. All of the store below provide a good
selection of beads, fittings, and other supplies. All, except for the Rock
Barrel, offer jewelry making courses.
- The Artful Bead -
As their name implies, this store is especially good for finding 'art' beads
and lampwork. Fort Worth.
- Aunties Beads -
I have bought from them online, but I'm headed out to their store in a few
weeks, and I'll report back.Fort Worth.
- Beading Dreams - Offers smaller quantities,
but a wider diversity of odds and ends. Dallas. On Lover's Lane between the
Dallas Tollway and the Inwood.
- Beadworks-Dallas - This store is especially well
represented for its selection of svwarski crystal and a nicer quality of glass
beads.Richardson. (Located on the SW corner of Coit &
Campbell.)
- Rock Barrell -
This store is unique in that it offers the biggest selection of natural beads
and supplies that you will find anywhere in the area. If you like using
'natural' material, then go here first. They have a large selection of strands
of sodalite, fresh water pearl, onyx, quartz, jade, and lots more. Dallas.
(Locate right near TI on 75, just north of the Midpark exit and on the east
side.
- Wild Beads - This
store had a variety of things, but I was most impressed with the variety of
fittings that were on the tables in the center of the room. There were a lot
of unique pieces in Turkish and Thai silver, sterling silver, gold and base
metal. Also, this is the only place (among the stores in this list) where I
could find a good collection of size 8 seed beads. (I heard from multiple
sources that size 8 is the best size for a beginner to use for bead crochet
and yet this was the only store that had that size.). Arlington. (Located
at Six Flags Mall, off 360, just south of 30. Note: Some major wings of this
mall are empty, so park where most of the other cars are parked.
